Many new pet owners have absolutely no idea how beneficial it can be to learn about crate training a puppy to stop puppy biting. In fact this is the same method that I used when I was trying to get my new pup to obey me. I begin puppy obedience training right away instead of waiting until I had a huge puppy biting problem.

The truth is that most pet owners wait until it is too late; they find themselves being bitten by their puppy at all times. They even begin to notice that their puppy does not listen to them at all. If you have ever dealt with a stubborn puppy; then you know how much of a nuisance it can be to try to train a pup when they won’t listen.

I began crate training a puppy because I was tired of trying to get my puppy to listen and she would look at me like I was crazy. Well I personally believe that crate training a puppy can be one of the quickest and easiest ways to implement puppy obedience training. There are some steps that you should know about before you begin dog training.

1. Punishment: Never use the crate as a method to punish your pup. You want them to enjoy going into their home and think of it as their dog house. If you begin using it as a method for punishment; they will begin dreading the crate and will even become scared of it.

2. Chewy Toys: Put plenty of chewy toys that she will enjoy chewing on when you put her in there. As soon as she begins biting you or a member of her family; put her in the crate and give her plenty of toys.

3. Wash Cloth: I have recently discovered that a cold wash cloth will help them get rid of the pain while they are teething.

4. Don’t Instigate It: We all have been guilty of instigating bad behavior; stop playing games that cause her to become aggressive and begin biting. No more games of tug-of-war or anything that will cause her to believe that biting is okay.

5. Active: Keep her active and tire her out; you will have less biting problems if you are able to tire her out. She will be too tired to begin biting and you both will be happy.
